Aubrey Beardsley
Aubrey Beardsley
Patrick Bade

Born in 1872, Aubrey Beardsley was, along with Oscar Wilde, an emblematic figure of the decadence that marked the end of Queen Victoria's reign. Largely self-taught, Beardsley's drawings initially show the influence of the Pre-Raphaelites, such as Burne-Jones and Rossetti. Later, he adopted a more radical and innovative style, illustrating Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur and participating in the creation of The Yellow Book magazine. But it was through his dark and erotic drawings, notably for Oscar Wilde's Salome, that he best evoked the troubled atmosphere of the time. Greek art
Greek art
Elie Faure, Klaus H. Carl

Greek art, at the very moment that it was breaking up in depth, was scattering over the whole material surface of Hellenic antiquity. After the movement of concentration that had brought to Athens all the forces of Hellenism, a movement of dispersal began, which was to carry from Athens to southern Italy, to Sicily, to Cyrenaica, Egypt, the Islands, and Asia Minor the passion and, unfortunately, the mania, for beautiful things—in default of creative genius. Dilettantism and the diffusion of taste multiply and at the same time weaken talent. It is the Hellenistic period, perhaps the richest in artists and …

Lectio Divina: A Ladder towards God A Patristic Approach to the Scripture
Lectio Divina: A Ladder towards God A Patristic Approach to the Scripture
Dempsey Rosales Acosta

Lectio Divina as a Ladder towards God is a theological work of re-sourcement. As suggested by the word itself, re-sourcement is a return to applying theology to the original sources found in Christianity, namely Scripture, Tradition, the Church Fathers (i.e., Patristics), and Apostolic Teachings. Lectio divina is, therefore, an ancient practice of prayer and hermeneutics with its roots in early Hellenistic Christian and Jewish traditions which takes us directly to the heart of the Christian tradition by drinking directly from the fresh spring of God’s living Word. Consequently, the author articulates this tradition in three parts. Examining this influential history, …

Higher Evolution Processes
Higher Evolution Processes
Germán Martín Castro «Prometeus»

Serious problems affecting humanity and the world. Questions of ultimate importance. Could it be that the thinking human being cannot find the way to live with dignity and, therefore, is unable to solve problems? Does this human incompetence come from limited genetic development or a lack of culture and education? Do the answers to these questions prevent or promote the fact that violence, power, and wealth/money are believed to be the forces that govern human life? Could it be, perhaps, that because of the reality behind these questions, human beings are unable to use their vital capacities to act and …
